1. I like to change my hair. Dye it, cut it, or highlights. My hair right now is a tiny bit past my shoulders.

2. I love molding the wax from my Scentsy. I took mine to school so my room would smell good. I always find myself making designs in the wax or molding it. Weird, I know.

3. I love funny pictures of Cats. I don't know why. My previous post about lolz cats goes into more detail.

4. I always sleep with an eye mask on. I think that habit came about during my college days!

5. I love reading my favorite comics. Zits, Rose is a rose, and Get Fuzzy.

6. I love having a clean desk at work. It is my favorite! I have the few essentials on my desk: curriculum binder, seating charts, calendar, tape, and a stapler! Love it

7. I love checking craigslist for the free stuff listed. One time I saw a husband for free. LOL!

College Life, From David's Perspective....

So last semester I had a pretty easy time with most of my classes, didn't worry too much about studying because I knew the material, which as my family will tell you has always been a gift for me. I've never really needed to study. Ever.

Until this semester that is. Holy Cow this semester has been the most eye opening experience of my whole scholastic life! Not only are all my classes harder with more homework, but the tests are insane! This past week I took 2 exams, and usually I look over the material once before going to take the test. I studying my brain out trying to remember all the things the profs. said would be on them and I took the practice quizes and still after all that I bombed both of them. To quote Micheal Scott "The Stress of my modern life is killing me!"

I don't know what happened! Everything was going along fine then then all of the sudden BANG! I guess the Lord is trying to show me that I shouldn't take my past aptitude for learning so lightly.

So I'm trying some new things. Taking more notes, trying to get homework done earlier than the night before it's due (except yesterday, I turned in an blackboard assignment the was due at 6pm exactly at 6pm that was too close!), and I'm trying to be more balanced in my life. I know somethings are going to have to go, and I'll have to focus on other things alot more, but I'm feeling better about it already.

Anyways Other good news is that it's Friday! I love the weekends now! Over the summer they didn't mean much, but now I realize how amazing they really are. Anywho I hope everyone else is having a great day. -David

Free Style Rappers

David and his friend Sam were in the Institute talent show on Friday night. They did free style rapping if you want to know exactly what that is... you will just to have to ask David or have him perform!

As a Man Thinketh

As a Man Thinketh is a literary work of James Allen, published in 1902. The title is influenced by a verse in the Bible from the Book of Proverbs chapter 23 verse 7, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.”

This is a short book available for free on the internet.
There are so many great passages from this book.
Here are some

"
A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.

"Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results. Bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results. This is but saying that nothing can come from corn but corn, nothing from nettles but nettles."

It is a great Sunday read!

Giddy School Boy

We got a new computer the other day. David was so excited. Can you tell?

Full time

Well I am back to full time work. Summer is officially over. :( Today was our first faculty meeting, it lasted four hours! I had some time to reflect.... a year ago I was just starting my first year of teaching. Oh, I was so excited, nervous, anxious, apprehensive, and so unsure of myself. Looking back I am glad that I don't have to repeat my first year. That first year is brutal, intense, and exciting all at once. I am looking forward to a new year, with those first year experiences behind me and innovative ideas in front. I love having control of my own classroom and creating my own lesson plans. Here is to a fresh start! :)

So long sweet SUMMER

David and I have had a fun and relaxing summer (biking, swimming, game nights, movies, visiting family, and camping) . And now it is almost over. :( David is now working two jobs. He is working at the Bronco Bookstore and for my brother - in - law. It keeps him really busy. I am gearing up for school. I worked registration last week and- Wow there are a lot of 8th graders coming in (330). As school gets closer I have more and more dreams/nightmares about school. It is always along the lines that the students don't listen to me. Lol. I am looking forward to a less stressful school year! This year being my second and I have no wedding plans to fret about! I really lucked out with my school. I have an amazing principal who is kind and reasonable, and great faculty to work with! I start full time on Wednesday. So I have just a few days left to enjoy my summer. So long sweet summer! (Thanks Dawn for inspiring this post! :)

Strep :(

So yep I got strep. On Wednesday I felt great, but as the night wore on my throat starting hurting. By the time we got home from David's parent's house I was very tired. I found out in the morning that I got strep. For the last two days I have been drinking juice and watching TV. It has been really boring. David has been really great! Getting me juice, putting the office on for me, doing laundry!! I am really lucky! Thanks David for taking care of me!

Dentist

Last week I went to the dentist and I filled out the normal paper work and so forth. The receptionist, who is the dentist's wife, look over it and ask how do you know Tiff Winward, my emergency contact - thanks Tiff!,? I went on to tell her that Tiff is my sister. The response I got was not expected... Oh! Then you are my cousin. She went on to tell me about what a great family that I come from, on the Clark side. She told me to look up Sanford Porter's conversion story online. I haven't looked it up yet, but just thought it might be interesting for all'yall.

Outdoors

Here lies David and Tisha Johnson's most humblest of gardens. I think we have watermelon, carrots, daisys, zinnas, some herbs and of course tomatoes growing. I don't really know exacatly what we have because we didn't take the time to label them. We love watching the little sprout grow!!!

Friday David and I head up to the mountains with David's mom Dawn and the three youngest. We drove up to Lake Cascade and drove all around the the lake looking for a campsite that wasn't soggy or had snow in it. We finally found one. It was freezing. I think David was asleep before 9pm. The only warm place was our sleeping bags. We did walk down to the lake. Arianna and I saw a freaky huge ant hill. It was Indian Jones worthy. It was about 3 feet high and cover with big red and black ants. It was pretty crazy it gave my whole body the wiggles. We woke up Saturday morning to more coldness - so we quickly packed our bags and headed for the nearest McD's for breakfast! Ya- right in Cascade?! HA We went to the only sort of fast food place they had -subway. We had subs for breakfast! It was great and healthy! Well that makes for our first camping trip! More to come the SUMMER of 2008!

SuMmeR TiMe!!

Wow! I can not believe this day has come! I am sitting at home on a Thursday morning! It is a fabulous feeling being done with school. Last night as I went to bed I literally could breath deeper. I never realize how much I thought about my classes/students. I am very elated to be done! I have big plans for the summer - paint my ugly wall, read Rough Stone Rolling, exercise, scrapbook, camp, get a nice tan, and relax and not think about school for at least 2 whole months. It is times like these that I love being a teacher!

Burley

this weekend in Burley has be eventful. Saturday we helped Mom and Keith plant 6 fruit trees. David mowed the lawn. We took a 3 hour break to nap and relax, then we went to Durfee's Hot Springs. Mom, David, and I participated in a few competive events such as who can hold their breath the longest, and handstands! After the hot springs, we ate at Almo outpost. Keith knew about everyone that came into the resturant. :) We went home via way of the City of Rocks. Every time I go to the City of Rocks I am still in awe of the place! It is so amazing. We definatly going back to camp! 7 more days of school!

26 days!

I have 26 school days left, and then I will be done with my first year of teaching!! Hallelujah! I can not wait. 7th grade b-ball is going to be over this coming Tuesday!! I am ready to be done! I met with my principle on Friday for my last formal evaluation. He is very pleased with my efforts and skills in the classroom. He complimented me on my calm nature, confidence, and rapport with the students. Needless to say I felt energized and ready to take on 26 more days with my 8th graders!! It is amazing what a few kind words can do!

Last weekend David and I finally decorated our apartment! It looks so much better. We still have work to do, but it is getting there. We now have a real desk, and not just a pop up table. We are still working on getting a tv! Someday we will have one!

Life is good, and summer is around the corner!

Just some funny quotes to pass the time :O) -David

I think the best Thanksgiving I ever had was the one where we didn't even have a turkey. Mom and Dad sat us kids down and explained that business hadn't been good at Dad's store, so we couldn't afford a turkey. We had vegetables and bread and pie, and it was just fine.
Later I went into Mom and Dad's bedroom to thank them, and I caught them eating a little turkey.
I guess that wasn't really the best Thanksgiving.

I remember one night I was walking past Mom and Dad's room when I heard them talking about how they might not have enough money to pay their bills that month. I knew what I had to do. I went and got my piggy bank and buried it in the backyard, where they couldn't get their mitts on it.

I'll never forget the time we were at the beach and we buried Uncle Joe in the sand. Boy, did we get in trouble! In fact, we got arrested. It turns out you can't bury people at the beach. Only at the cemetery.

I drank some boiling water because I wanted to whistle.

A lollipop is a cross between hard candy and garbage.

It's hard to fight when you're in a gazebo.

I don't like grouper fish. Well, they're okay. They hang around star fish. Because they're grouper fish.

I miss the $2 bill, 'cause I can break a two. $20, no. $10, no. $5, maybe, $2? Oh yeah. What do you need, a one and another one?

I called the hotel operator and she said, "How can I direct your call?" I said, "Well, you could say 'Action!', and I'll begin to dial. And when I say 'Goodbye', then you can yell 'Cut!'"

A dog came to my door, so I gave him a bone, the dog took the bone into the back yard and buried it. I'm going to go plant a tree there, with bones on it, then the dog will come back and say, "Shoot! It worked! I must distribute these bones equally for I have a green paw!"

Cavities are made by sugar. So if you need to dig a hole, then lay down some candy bars!

I like cottage cheese. That's why I want to try other dwelling cheeses, too. How about studio apartment cheese? Tent cheese? Mobile home cheese? Do not eat mobile home cheese in a tornado.

I'm an ice sculptor. Last night I made a cube.

I went to the airport, I put my bag in the x-ray machine, I found out my bag has cancer. It only has six more months to hold stuff.

That would be cool if the earth's crust was made out of graham cracker. It would disappear just like the ozone layer, but for completely different reasons.

I want to get non-aerosol mace, you just rub it in. "Dude who is attacking me - come a little closer!"

Magicians disappear all the time, but as soon as a regular person does it, everyone is all scared. "Tom's gone!" "Is he a magician?" "No." "Then let's print up some flyers!"

I tried to throw a yo-yo away. It was impossible.

A sleeping bag is a tortilla for a human.

My manager said, "Don't use liquor as a crutch!" I can't use liquor as a crutch, because a crutch helps me walk.

I went to a restaurant, and I saw a guy wearing a leather jacket, eating a hamburger, drinking a glass of milk. I said, "Dude, you are a cow. The metamorphosis is complete. Don't fall asleep or I will tip you over!"

I've never been to a hotel with a rotating restaurant on top, but one time I took my girlfriend to a merry-go-round, and I gave her a burrito.

I want to get a vending machine, with fun sized candy bars, and the glass in front is a magnifying glass. You'll be mad, but it will be too late.

I think a rotisserie is a really morbid Ferris wheel for chickens. We will take a chicken, impale it, and then rotate it. Spinning chicken carcasses make my mouth water. I like dizzy chickens!

I want to ride in a cold air balloon. "This isn't going anywhere!"

Tony the Tiger usually thinks that stuff is great.

things actually said in court (this is for you paul)

  • Lawyer: "Now, Mrs. Johnson, how was your first marriage terminated?"
  • Witness: "By death."
  • Lawyer: "And by whose death was it terminated?"
  • Lawyer: "What is your date of birth?"
  • Witness: "July 15th."
  • Lawyer: "What year?"
  • Witness: "Every year."
  • Lawyer: "This myasthenia gravis -- does it affect your memory at all?"
  • Witness: "Yes."
  • Lawyer: "And in what ways does it affect your memory?"
  • Witness: "I forget."
  • Lawyer: "You forget. Can you give us an example of something that you've forgotten?"
  • Lawyer: "Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?"
  • Witness: "No."
  • Lawyer: "Did you check for blood pressure?"
  • Witness: "No."
  • Lawyer: "Did you check for breathing?"
  • Witness: "No."
  • Lawyer: "So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?"
  • Witness: "No."
  • Lawyer: "How can you be so sure, Doctor?"
  • Witness: "Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar."
  • Lawyer: "But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?"
  • Witness: "Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere."
  • Lawyer: "Are you married?"
  • Witness: "No, I'm divorced."
  • Lawyer: "And what did your husband do before you divorced him?"
  • Witness: "A lot of things I didn't know about."
  • Lawyer: "And lastly, Gary, all your responses must be oral. Ok? What school do you go to?"
  • Witness: "Oral."
  • Lawyer: "How old are you?"
  • Witness: "Oral."

alright well I think that's about it for me tonight I just thought you might enjoy some funny quotes and stories-Love you Guys-David

War Hawk Museum

Yes, we are alive. We both survived mono with the help of Dawn (David's Mom) and my Mom. We were confined to the bed. We are feeling so much better. Yesterday we went to the War Hawk Museum and took Joe, Porter, and Corbin. Joe had a great time looking at all the war stuff, and Porter played with the Morse Code thing for a long time. David, Corbin, and I were following the younger boys. David and I had a great time, the museum has a lot of information about WWII. It is pretty neat!

Welcome to Baking 101

Hey Guys it's David
So yesterday (saturday) I decided that since this whole week I've been able to eat nothin' but soup and water, I was gonna make a pizza! Then Tisha says to me "Hey lets make bread too!" Sounds like a great Idea to me...little did I know that our worlds were going to be turned upside down! I start making the pizza sauce, and putting together the topping, I decided that buffalo chicken pizza with mushrooms and olives would hit the spot. Tisha started making the bread dough. Soon (well about an hour later) everything is ready, Tisha throws in a loaf, and it commences it's baking. The pizza dough gets rolled out and when it's sufficiently sauced, we deploy the cheese (we used pepperjack -oh man it's spicy! But sooooo good!), then a layer: thinly sliced ham, a few crumbles of bacon, then the shredded chicken that has been basted in buffalo sauce, then the mushrooms (the olives got put in the sauce, so they're under the cheese)....then topped it all off with a sprinkling of oregano...it looked perfect! BING! bread's done! Tisha takes it out and sets in on the back burner to cool...I throw the pizza in, then I notice that smoke is coming from the bread...I look at the stove...The burner had been on the whole time! SO we take it from the burner flip it out of the form to reveal a nicely blackened bottom
...kinda like the time I threw $80 out the window when i was a kid ;OP...Needless to say Tisha was less than exuberant. I thought quickly then pulled out our trusty electric carver and thought to myself "off with the bread!...the burnt part I mean." SO we cut it off and it was delicious...no one would be the wiser...unless the caught wind of what was about to happen next to our happy luncheon...I heard the the distinctness of a "BING" coming from the kitchen...oh goody! the pizza is finished...we open the oven, we pull out the pizza, and...It looks beautiful! I could have cried it was so perfect looking, the flying pie had nothing on me. We set the table, preparing to eat this culinary masterpiece, With pizza cutter in hand I began to roll with the precision of a jet fighter, one pass, 2 pass, 3 perfect passes, no crooked pieces on my watch, no way man! 4th pass completed and we had ourselves a nice lookin' pizza. We pull out the spatula and begin to serve...wait! what's this! I can't put the spatula under the pizza! It's like some cosmic force is pulling the pizza to the pizza stone with terrifying strength! It's then that I realize...we forgot to grease the stone! ARGH! Foiled again! So we spent the better part of that meal trying to cut it off of the pizza stone...but i gotta say...best mangled pizza I have ever eaten...Bar none

Conformist

Well... I decided to give in and conform to the rest of the family and start a blog. On Tuesday David and I will have been married one month! Crazy how the time flies. David and I have been taking turns on being sick. This week was his turn to be sick with strep, the week before was my turn with a cold. We got our wedding pictures back! They are great. Married life is great, when we are both healthy. David loves to cook and is a lot better at it than I. He starts going to BSU on Wednesday, and he is applying to be a substitute teacher. My 1st semester is over and 2nd semester starts on Tuesday. I still love my school, and enjoy teaching even though it is pretty intense sometimes.
Life is good!
